CDSI and Woolpert teamed to perform this design/build renovation of a three story office building which is headquarters to the Navy’s Fleet Forces Command which occupied over 30,000 SF of office space. This project was executed concurrently with replacing the 30’ tall curtain windows on the building with high efficiency, ATFP and security rated windows. Combining both contracts, CDSI’s work on NH-140 exceeded $4.7M.
Work had to be accomplished in phases but at the same time replace and keep in operation the building’s fire detection system. Work included demolition and replacement of existing floor, wall and ceiling finishes on two floors and the demolition and replacement of window systems and life safety systems on all 3 floors. Categories of work included lead and asbestos abatement, structural steel, storefront doors & windows, wall framing with GWB, SACT, carpet and ceramic floor tile, awnings, plumbing, mechanical, electrical, NIPR & SIPR comms, a Life Safety system, and 20,000 SF of modular office furniture.
In addition, since work had to be accomplished in phases by working separately the north and south wings, it was a tricky evolution (but successful) to simultaneously remove the existing fire detection system from the inactive north wing and maintain full operation of the building’s fire detection system in the south wing along with entire 3rd floor while everything was interconnected to one FACP. The transition to the old and new FACP was done in one day’s outage.
